Bob Corker, United States Senator, Tennessee

Honoring Veterans Day

Senator Corker released the following statement in honor of Veterans Day.

“I know all Tennesseans join me this Veterans Day in paying tribute to the brave men and women who have served our nation and dedicated their lives to defending our freedoms,” said Corker. “One of the best ways we can honor those who have served is by fighting each day to make this great nation stronger and more fiscally sound so we can leave behind a better country than the one we inherited.”

Irresponsible Highway Bill Weakens our Nation

Senator Corker released the following statement after the Senate voted to advance to a conference committee on the Senate and House highway bills.

“Both the Senate and House highway bills are gimmick-laden, weaken our nation and in no way pay for our country’s important infrastructure in real time, so I am extremely disappointed that both Republicans and Democrats in Congress have advanced them to conference,” said Corker. “I hope the conferees will remove some of the more egregious elements and payfors before the legislation is finalized.”

Disappointed in Obama’s Rejection of Keystone Pipeline Completion

Senator Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, made the following statement after President Barack Obama announced his administration’s decision to reject completion of the Keystone XL pipeline.

“Rejecting completion of the Keystone pipeline defies logic and reflects a decision to put politics ahead of our economy and a rational approach to energy,” said Corker. “Multiple reviews by the State Department have said there will be no significant environmental impact when considering alternative methods of transporting the oil. I am disappointed the president has denied a project that would have generated economic growth and advanced our nation’s energy security.”
